Default Sound Feedback loop locks up GW

Hi All,

I recently build myself a new PC. Ever since then, I've been plagued by a feedback loop sound, that locks up the game. It randomly happens during combat. I have CTR-ALT-DEL to exit. I can then re-enter the game and continue.

My PC Specs are:

Motherboard: ASUS A8V-XE
CPU: AMD 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
RAM: 4x512meg Kingston Dual Channel
Video Card: XFX GeForce 8600 GTS 512meg
Audio: SB Live! Audio --- On board sound: SoundMAX HD Audio
OS: WinXP PRO SP3
DirectX: 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

This happens with either audio as the active one.

I remember having this same problem many years ago playing Dungeon Seige. But by upgrading my PC128 card to the SB 5.1 ,the problem was solved. I put that same card in this PC once the on board sound device started giving me this problem. But this time it's not solving it.

I would apreciate your help.

TIA
Sir Iceman

To use the SB Live! you should first uninstall and disable the SoundMax HD audio.
Windows will use only one detectable sound device correctly. It can work with two, but I have never seen it work well for very long.

KZaske,

Thanks for the quick reply. I've made the adjustments and will do some testing in the morning. I'll post back with the results.

Try forcing GW.exe to run in only one core. Search these forums for info on how to do it and/or software that will do it for you.

Kzake is right. Gw has issues with dealing with certain SB HD audio drivers. Had the same with Audigy and Audigy 2

KZaske,

This seems to have done the trick. I've been in & out of the game today and have had no trouble at all.

Thanks! I apreciate it.
